Open Crew Cruising Opportunities

Now that you are registered as a Sea Scout, if you are ready to start cruising as soon as possible, the SeaScout.org website has opportunities for high adventure cruising you can join as a solo Sea Scout or with a buddy.

Order of the Arrow

OA Trail Crew High Adventure

For Order of the Arrow members older than 16 but not yet 21, there are still open spots for individuals or buddies to join trail crew treks at Philmont, Summit, and Northern Tier. OA Trail Crew offers an opportunity for Scouts to help maintain our camps and participate in a discounted trek.

Make significant progress on advancement over more than half of Spring Break.

If Scouts are interested in attending, we can ask for support from other Ships if we don't have sufficient adult leaders to register for this as a Ship.

Sea Scout Academy: Lost Pines

Dates April 24–26, 2026
Location Lost Pines Scout Reservation
Cost $65 / Sea Scout
Registration Individual

A regional Sea Scout learning experience where youth are taught advancement skills such as seamanship, navigation, crew drills, and more. This is a highlight of the year for many Sea Scouts.

Includes an adult track so newer adults in your unit can get great training during the weekend as well.

Sea Scouts offers special opportunities for Scouts who are interested in exploring a career in the United States Coast Guard.

Cruise Aboard the USCGC Barque Eagle

Sea Scouts who are interested in attending the Coast Guard Academy may apply to be part of the crew of the Barque Eagle. Applications are due March 31, 2026.

USCGA Academy Introductory Mission

Academy Introductory Mission (AIM)

The United States Coast Guard Academy has up to ten spots for rising high school senior Sea Scouts to participate in the Academy Introduction Mission — an opportunity to experience life at the Academy firsthand. Applications to AIM are due on April 1, 2026.
